Antique SHREVE Fancy Scenic Repousse French Style Sterling Tray Compote

Description

This is an unusual design for Shreve silver of San Francisco to have executed. Made in the early 20th century , It is a tray measuring 7 1/2” x 5 1/2” affixed to a stand measuring 6” high with the fancy open work foot measuring 3 3/4” x 2 3/4”. The tray had a hand made repousse scene of a man and woman in antique clothing; the woman petting a dog and the man appearing to take her picture with an old box camera. The base is marked as shown Shreve & Co sterling San Francisco base loaded 5566 and with old Shreve hallmarks. It is in excellent condition total weight 9.4oz. .
