    Description

Honolulu Residence. 10.5 x 7.3 inches. By J.A. Gonsalves, circa 1880s. A view of 129 Fort Street Road. --- Albumen hand-printing, invented in 1850, was the most popular form of photographic printing from the 1860s to 1890s. It used the albumen found in egg whites to bind the photographic chemicals to the paper, and silver nitrate to produce images by exposure to light.
